3 Simple Steps to Alkalize Your Body
Whilst the obesity epidemic is a well-known health issue for people living in the United States and most of the developed world, there is another health concern which could potentially have the same impact unless we start taking it seriously.
The acid diet time-bomb means many of us are putting our health at risk because of the highly acidic modern eating habits and poor lifestyle. The problem that the acid diet poses means learning how to alkalize your body is of the utmost urgency for far too many of us.
Luckily, combating acidity is not an impossible task with the right lifestyle changes and equipment. Here’s how you can restore the acid – alkaline balance required for better vitality and well-being.
Why You Need to Alkalize Your Body
This pH acid – alkaline balance of the human body is tightly regulated by complex systems of buffers that are continuously at work to maintain an optimal pH range.
The normal pH of human arterial blood is 7.35 to 7.45 and most parts of the body are also around this pH figure except the stomach (which is about pH 3) and the intestines (which are about pH 8). Urine, being mostly a vessel to carry waste out of the body, is slightly acidic, which is usually in order to help maintain the blood’s healthy pH level.
But there is only so much acidity our body can deal with before it becomes dangerously ill-balanced. When we consume lots of the extremely acidic foods which constitute the modern American diet, and combine this with lack of exercise, the pH of the body can fall below 7.35, resulting in an ‘acid state’. Normal bodily functions break down and the body begins to store acidic waste in our tissues instead of expelling it, as our vital organs (the kidneys) are shielded from what the body recognizes as toxic substances inside of us. Storing acid waste is a vicious circle, as acid waste clogging up our tissues further exacerbates the problem. The health implications are higher susceptibility to disease, a weakened immune system, lethargy, and even a coma if the problem is not dealt with.
Dealing with the problem is not that hard if we adhere to the following simple steps.
1. Alkalize Your Body: Drink Alkaline Water
Perhaps the most immediate method to reduce acidity levels and alkalize your body is to drink alkaline water. It is simple science: using alkalinity to reverse the effects of acidity. But you don’t just want any alkaline water. For alkalinity to have a real chance of fighting acid in the body it needs to be the right type. Simply dropping alkaline water drops into a glass of tap water and then drinking it isn’t going to have much of an effect as the acid in our stomach will neutralize the water’s pH immediately. It is said that only one drop of acid can take away the alkalinity of a glass of water. So what you need is ionized alkaline water from an ionizer machine. Ionized water has the special property of being micro-clustered after being processed through these home appliances, meaning it is a type of alkaline water that more effectively hydrates your body and cells, flushing acidic toxins from your tissues. Simple alkaline water won’t be anywhere near as effective.
2.Alkalize Your Body: Eat Alkaline Foods
Again, this seems like a no-brainer. But the truth is that the vast majority of people don’t select healthy foods to eat based on any alkaline properties, only fat content and salt/sugar seem to be of concern. But there are many highly alkaline foods out there that we can all eat more of to restore the pH balance of the body. Stuff like herbs, kale, spinach, avocado, most root vegetables, garlic and lemons are all packed with alkaline goodness. The key is to replace acidic foods like processed meats, ice cream, butter, and sugar with more of this stuff every day, and you’ll be on your way to alkalize your body.

Getting alkaline food every day is not easy if you don’t have regular access to healthy alkaline water and alkaline foods. So the secret to dealing with bad acidic diets for good is to change your lifestyle. And it also means doing more of that thing we all struggle to do enough of: exercise.
