Dr. Robert Young is the author of The pH Miracle for Weight Loss. In this book he explores the causes of weight gain and obesity and concluded that gaining weight in our modern world is a result of acid build up in our bodies.
The problem with our modern diet is that most of what we eat is acidic. This includes most teas, coffee, soda, grains, sugars, meat, and even beer and wine. Our body is designed to eliminate this acid through urination, perspiration, and our bowel movements. But since there are so many acids in our diet, a lot of this acid remains in our body.
So, our body is forced to trap all the excess acids and toxins in fat cells, causing us to gain weight.
Furthermore, these excess acids attack and wear down our healthy body tissues. That’s another reason why our body to create fat — to protect our healthy tissues!
Why Diets Fail
So, you want to lose weight. The most common strategy we employ is to cut down our meal size. In theory this will work but it really doesn’t. Why? This only decreases our overall acid intake by a little bit.
Furthermore, simply decreasing calories will not reduce the built up acid in our bodies, which is the reason for the weight gain. And, if you’re drinking an acidic water, you are increasing the acid in your body, and may gain even more weight!
You also can’t just reduce fats in order to lose weight. And for those of you on the Atkins diet — stop now. Increasing your intake of meat will increase the acidity in your body.
Another common approach is to increase excercise. But, if you’re not careful, you will stress out your body and cause it to produce more acid like lactic acid. If you are experiencing pain in your muscles, that’s lactic acid, and that extra acid won’t help you lose weight.
Why Drink Ionized Alkaline Water
When you drink ionized alkaline water, like from an EOS water ionizer, your are helping your body lose weight in two ways. First, the alkalinity is reducing your body’s acid build up reducing the need for your body to store that acid in fat cells.
