The reason why glacial water or ionized water from a water ionizer machine is so life-sustaining is because it neutralizes another abundant presence in living things: free radicals. But what are they? To understand, we need to roll back our memory bank to high school and think about the structure of cells. Humans are composed of many different cells made up of different molecules. Molecules are one or more atoms joined by chemical bonds. Still with me? Well these atoms consist of a nucleus, neutrons, protons and electrons. And it is the electrons that are important here, as the number of electrons surrounding the atom determines how reactive a molecule is inside our body.
Free radicals arise when our body produces unstable atoms missing an electron. These molecules are extremely reactive and destroy healthy cells in our bodies by trying to steal electrons from their atoms.
