If you Google ionized water, you might find some skeptic web sites out there that suggest drinking ionized water is bad for your stomach because it is acidic and ionized water is alkaline. They suggest that drinking ionized alkaline water could do harm to your stomach and interfere with digestion. This is not true. Actually, when it comes to ionized water and your stomach, the two are best buddies working together to improve your health.
Our Diet Should Be Alkaline
Ionized alkaline water isn’t the only alkaline food or beverages that we consume. Milk is alkaline, many fruits and vegetables are alkaline, citrus fruits create an alkaline response in your body, some teas are alkaline, and there are many other foods and beverages that are alkaline. So, following the “alkaline water is bad for your stomach” argument to its natural conclusion, you would also have to say that drinking milk, eating oranges, and drinking tea is harmful to your stomach. Therefore, the alkalinity of the food or drink that you are consuming is not going to neutralize stomach acid or otherwise do damage to your stomach.
