How to Store Ionized Water Properly
Ionized water can be stored in different ways. Not all methods are effective. If you store ionized water the right way, you can maximize its health benefits.
The Best Way to Store Ionized Water
Insulated double wall stainless steel water bottles are the best for storing ionized water. Usually, ionized water will break down when its exposed to the free radicals in air. But the alkaline ionized water that is stored in these stainless steel bottles will maintain the original ORP (antioxidants) in the water for an entire day.
The same can be said for the alkalinity of the water. Stainless steel bottles preserve the alkalinity twice as long, about eight days, compared to three or four days in other bottles.
If you don’t have a stainless steel bottle, a glass mason jar is pretty good. It will allow you to maintain the quality of the alkaline ionized water for about four days. Just remember that a mason jar should be your second choice. By storing water in stainless steel bottles, you will preserve the health benefits for a much longer period of time.
Some plastic bottles are a safe way to store ionized water. If you decide to store ionized water in plastic bottles, make sure that they are marked as #1 PETE and #2 HDPE. Don’t use bottles with 3,4,5,7 and other numbers for storing water. These bottles are not safe because they are too soft and can potentially leak BPA and BPB in your drinking water, which are carcinogens.
How to Store Ionized Water
No matter which type of bottle you choose, you will want to fill the container completely to store ionized alkaline water. Make sure there is no air in the container. If the container has air, ionized water will begin to lose its antioxidant properties because air contains free radicals. If you store ionized water in glass or plastic, you should put it in a dark, cool place, like your refrigerator. In general, keep ionized alkaline wateraway from heat sources.
If you want to gain the maximum health benefits from ionized water, don’t store it for a long time. Ionized water has its strongest potential when it is freshly ionized, just like water in nature is best for you to drink when you drink it directly from a spring or glacial stream. The reason is the sun and water electrolysis produce antioxidants in the water that is really good for you. But antioxidants are fragile and will break down under the attack of free radicals in air and heat and chemicals from soft bottles.
If you do need to store ionized water, store it in the refrigerator or some other cool and dark place. Water that is stored in cool, dark place will maintain its integrity for longer periods of time. That means all of those beneficial antioxidants will be there for you when you’re ready to drink your water. If ionized water is not stored in stainless steel bottles and is exposed to air and heat, it will lose its ORP value in 1 day and pH value in 2 to 3 days.
It is very important to store ionized water properly to preserve its health-enhancing properties. Follow the advice of this article and get the right kind of bottle and store your ionized water in the right way, and you’ll get the most out of your water ionizer even when you’re away from it!
