Water Intake and Diabetes: How Much Water Should You Drink? What Type?
What is the relationship between water intake and diabetes? Adults who drank at least four eight ounce glasses of water a day had a 21% reduced chance of developing high blood sugar, according to a recent study. So, drinking at least that amount of water benefits diabetes by lowering blood sugar. But what type of water should you drink? Tap? Bottled? Purified? Alkaline and ionized? A German study was conducted on the subject of water intake and diabetes where one group of diabetic patients, both type 1 and type 2, were given bottled water to drink and the other group was given ionized alkaline water. Type 1 diabetic patients who drank alkaline ionized water saw a 33.3% drop in the blood sugar over a six week period and type 2 diabetic patients saw a 27.1% reduction.
Futhermore, triglyzeride, cholesterol, and LDL levels were reduced for both type 1 and type 2 diabetic patients while HDL levels increased. Water Intake and Diabetes: The Type of Water You Drink Matters
