With shelter-in-place now a reality for Americans, many of us are finding ourselves stuck at home. While this is a shocking new reality, we can definitely make the best of it. It’s a good time to learn, get healthy, and develop new ideas. Here are some ideas.

ToggleMany restaurants and bars are now closed. The truth is, prior to the coronavirus pandemic, many of us relied on fast and convenient food options. But now that we are at home, we can take the time to search on Google or pull out a couple of cookbooks and find new recipes.
This is a great idea because most of the recipes you find online or in books use whole foods. The meals you end up making are healthier, cheaper and there is a whole world of food to explore that’s not available in restaurants.
If you have kids at home with you, it’s a great opportunity to explore some new recipes and find healthy foods that they like to eat. It’s also a great time to pay attention to healthy food strategies like eating only 15% protein in your diet and only about 15% to 20% whole grains. The rest should be fruits and vegetables.
Now that many gyms are closed across the US, it’s a good time to create your own workout routine. Most of us can still access parks. As long as you are practicing social distancing, take this opportunity to begin a walking or jogging routine.
Exercise that elevates your heart rate for an extended period of time helps our heart get healthier. Cardio exercise also helps us lose weight and even detoxify.
