There are millions of arthritis sufferers worldwide and the disease is often extremely disabling and painful for those afflicted. Drugs for the disease are very hit and miss and usually only manage to control it, and this has the effect of forcing many to seek alternatives.
Whilst many of these alternate treatments are rather dubious, one of the most interesting is the proposal of water as a treatment for the disease. So the question must be asked – is drinking water good for arthritis?
Because the type, severity and impact of arthritis varies from person to person, medicinal treatments are usually tailored to the needs of the individual. However, in general, steroids are commonly used to treat pain caused by inflammatory arthritis and connective tissue diseases (CTDs). There are also a large selection of drugs designed to stop the disease progressing and reduce the risk of further problems. These work by blocking the effects of the chemicals released when the immune system attacks the joints, which could otherwise cause further damage to nearby bones, tendons, ligaments and cartilage.
Why are we asking is drinking water good for arthritis, and whether there are better alternatives to medication? Because, despite the quantity of drugs available to treat the disease, there is not a single effective treatment that doesn’t cause side-effects. Minor side-effects are common whilst there are also serious side-effects, which are thankfully rare. The most common side-effects are nausea and vomiting (particularly at the start of treatment), constipation, and dry mouth. Medication to treat arthritis can also cause drowsiness and confusion. Some people can become tolerant to opioid drugs (painkillers) and will need to take higher doses. The unfortunate side-effect of this can be drug dependency and, ultimately, addiction.
Knowing that there exists no effective drug cure for arthritis that doesn’t cause side effects, the news of natural alternatives is welcome. Recent studies have shown that water, especially more hydrating water like ionized water, can be an easy and simple treatment for sufferers. It has no side effects and there is no risk of unwanted addictions.
Not only will water lubricate joints and reduce swelling, it helps nourish affected areas with nutrients needed to grow and repair. But if we really want to use water as an effective treatment for the disease, it is recommended that we drink the most effectively hydrating and mineral rich water available: ionized water. Because this type of water from an ionizer machine is structure differently to normal water, it is more hydrating. This makes it the perfect vessel to infiltrate deep within affected joints. And because ionized water is full of alkaline minerals and antioxidants, it delivers the perfect nourishment to cells, giving them the best chance to repair from the damage that arthritis causes.
So to answer the question, is drinking water good for arthritis? The answer is certainly YES! Especially if we feed the body with the unique properties of ionized water.
