Quarantine Cooking Tips

Stuck at Home? Eat Something Delicious

Like most Americans, I’m stuck at home with a lot of mouths to feed. Therefore, I’ve been thinking a lot about my home cooking strategy.  I’ve got a couple of favorite quarantine cooking tips that I’d like to share along with my favorite quarantine recipes.

Quarantine Cooking Tip One: Get an Air Fryer

I got an air fryer last Christmas and it has made my life much easier and healthier.  An air fryer works by using hot air and a tiny amount of oil to fry and cook foods of all types. It does a lot more than just french fries!

You can bake with an air fryer. You can cook chicken patties, hamburgers and vegetables. You can even dehydrate fruit so that it’s ready for snacks!

Plus, an air fryer only takes a few minutes to cook anything. It’s really quite remarkable. And the best part of it is that I don’t have to heat up my oven. Nor do I have to empty my vegetable oil bottle to cook things.

My air fryer saves me money and time and it makes the food I cook healthier. In my opinion, the food even tastes better without the oil.

Tip Two: Get a Pressure Cooker

The other tool that has really made my life easier is my pressure cooker.  I can make pot roast, lasagna, delicious pasta recipes, chili, or many other recipes in 40 minutes or less.

My favorite recipe is pot roast. You can put in a frozen chunk of pork tenderloin, potatoes, carrots, onions, and a couple packets of pot roast seasoning and then in 40 minutes it is ready to eat! It is absolutely delicious because the steam brings out all of the natural flavors and oils from the meat, which mixes with the sauce and the vegetables. With very little prep time, you get a meal that feeds the whole family cheaply and its delicious!

Another recipe that has been a staple for me is split pea soup.  You start off by getting a ham and eating it for a couple days. Once you get close to the bone, that goes straight into the pressure cooker. Then add 16 oz of peas, carrots, onions, and season to taste. Set your pressure cooker for 35 minutes and you are done!

The split pea soup that I’m able to make with my pressure cooker rivals Anderson’s.  I kid you not! And if you add a little sour cream or cheese as a garnish, it is absolute heaven. Even my kids like it.

You can Google easy Instapot recipes and get all kinds of other ideas. When you combine the pressure cooker with the air fryer, family meals end up healthier, cheaper, and absolutely delicious.

Add Ionized Alkaline Water for Better Health

If you add ionized alkaline water to your pot roast or split pea soup, you will neutralize some of the natural acids which brings out the flavors and makes it healthier to eat.

Drinking a glass of ionized water with any meal also helps with digestion.  And if you drink ionized water throughout the day, you’ll be more hydrated. Hydration helps your body absorb nutrients better, it boosts your energy levels, boosts your immune system, and even helps you sleep.

I hope that these quarantine cooking tips are useful for you and your family. Combining a pressure cooker, an air fryer, and ionized water has been the perfect combination for me. They ease the stress of preparing three daily meals for a large family and I actually find it fun. Did I mention there’s hardly any cleanup? That’s a huge bonus, too!
