Water is also crucial to our brain functioning, our digestion, muscle repair and growth, and even our vision is better when we are hydrated. If you eat a large meal when your body is dehydrated, your body will work harder to digest it. Some experts believe that the formula is to take your body weight, divide it in half, and then divide that number by the number of hours that you are awake. So if you weigh 200 pounds, you should be drinking 100 ounces of water over the course of about 12 to 14 hours.
Of course, this is just the minimum amount of water you should drink. If you are working out or going on a hike, you will need to increase your water intake. If you are going through any emotionally stressful time, you will also need to increase the amount of water you drink.
The type of water you drink is also crucially important. You don’t want to be drinking water that is acidic because it’ll put an extra strain on your body. Acidic water is water that has everything filtered out of it like reverse osmosis water or distilled water. Most bottled water that you drink is purified water and not good for your body!
