Reverse Osmosis Water was Created for Labs
It is common in places where the water is hard or especially contaminated for people to hook up reverse osmosis water filtration systems, also known as RO. While reverse osmosis is effective at removing hard minerals and contaminants from the water, you should not drink it. Here’s why.
Pure Water is Not Good to Drink
A reverse osmosis system works by slamming water through incredibly tiny holes. What’s left after the water is forced through these holes is pure water. That means that virtually all of the minerals and contaminants have been removed. It is not healthy to drink pure water.
Pure water is empty. When water is empty it is classified as acidic. Anything that is acidic will oxidize. Oxidation means that it will strip ions and minerals from what it comes in contact with an order to balance itself out. Think bleach. So when you drink pure water, you are flooding your body with something that is empty and acidic that will damage your cells and your bones over time. You are bleaching your body. Oxidation is why our hair turns gray when we get old!
Natural Water is Full of Good Stuff
If you look at natural water, like the water you find in a really good spring or a glacial stream, it is not acidic. It is not pure. It is actually full of oxygen, trace minerals, and antioxidants that are formed when the ions from the Sun or from movement or from certain minerals bond with the hydrogen in the water to create a hydroxyl ion. When you drink water that is full of these hydroxyl ions, the ions are lent to the free radicals in your cells and those free radicals are neutralized.
So a good natural water gives your body oxygen for energy, it detoxifies your body with hydroxyl ions, and it gives essential trace minerals to your body that keeps your immune system functioning correctly.
Unfortunately, you can’t just buy natural spring water and get the same benefits. Even the really expensive natural spring waters do not have any antioxidants in them. That is because the ions in the water will fizzle out just like carbonation fizzles out of a soda. After a couple of days, all of hydroxyl ions will have dissolved in your drinking water. That means that you can’t bottle it. Bottled water usually sits on store shelves for a couple of weeks before you ever buy it. By the time you get home, or by the time it is delivered to you, it is dead and stagnant water.
Ionized Water is the Best Water to Drink
What kind of water should you drink? You should drink natural water. If you can get water directly from a really good spring or a glacial stream, that should be your first choice. Since that’s not possible for most people, you should get a water ionizer. A water ionizer will filter out all of the contaminants from the water and use water electrolysis to restore the antioxidants. A water ionizer creates antioxidants in your drinking water in the same way that the sun does. The chemistry is the same. So you are getting the same quality antioxidants as if you were living right next to a natural water source.
If you already have a reverse osmosis water system, you can still get a water ionizer. A water ionizer needs minerals in order to ionize the water. So what you need to do is install a remineralizing pre-filter that goes between your reverse osmosis system and your water ionizer. The remineralizing pre-filter will put in just the right amount of minerals to your water for it to be ionized and for you to be able to drink all of those healthy antioxidants.
Don’t drink reverse osmosis water! Reverse osmosis water was created for labs so that instruments could be cleaned without residue being left behind. This empty and stagnant water is not healthy for you to drink. Get a water ionizer instead and you’ll be drinking water that is clean and natural and super healthy to drink.
To your health!
