So you’ve got your brand new water for Life USA Water ionizer. You’ve opened the box and pulled it out. Now what? While the instructions are pretty straightforward for hooking it up, whether it’s the countertop or undersink model, here are a couple EOS water ionizer start-up tips to keep in mind that make the process much easier.
The plugs on the bottom of your Water for Life USA Water ionizer are connected to Quick Connect adapters. To release the plugs, you have to push in the ring that is around the stem of the plug. When you look at the plug, you are seeing the head of the plug. It is shaped like a mushroom. The stem of the plug is connected to the Quick Connect adapter.
On the Quick Connect adapter there is a ring that goes around the stem of the plug. You have to get your finger or a butter knife between the ring and the head of the plug. You push the ring in toward the base while at the same time you pull out the plug. This will free up your Quick Connect adapter to receive the quarter inch tubing that hooks up to the inlet and the outlet. If you ever need to disconnect that 1/4 inch tubing, it will disconnect in the same way as the plug.
With countertop installation, when you are connecting your 1/4 inch tubing, make sure you leave enough slack for your kitchen faucet to be able to move all the way from left to right. If you cut it too short, then your faucet won’t be able to move all the way to the right or left depending on what side of the counter you have your water ionizer on.
For under sink installation, the unions that connect to the stems of the faucet are also Quick Connect adapters. That means that they have the same ring that needs to be pushed in toward the faucet in order to release the tubing. There is a 1/4 inch union and there is a 5/16 inch union. They both function in the same way.
When installing your faucet diverter valve or your cold water line diverter valve, Teflon tape can be a great help to fix leaks. Sometimes the diverter valves don’t make a perfect fit with your faucet or your cold water spigot, even with the adapters that we provide, and they can leak. If your cold water line diverter valve or faucet diverter valve leaks in any way you can simply wrap the rivets with two or three layers of Teflon tape. Teflon tape is white and can be bought for about $0.99 a can at your local hardware store or just give us a call and we will send you some. It is a miracle worker when it comes to stopping leaks!
Another water ionizer start-up tip is to test the pH of your ionized water with the pH reagent drops. The biggest mistake people make is using too much water when they are testing. You only need to use very small amount of water. A shot glass or something similar works best. Fill up the shot glass about halfway and put in two or three drops. The color that the water changes will correspond with a color on the pH chart that comes with the pH reagent drops. Match the color to the chart and you will know the pH of the water that you are testing. It is good to test your machine every few months on its various settings to make sure you are getting a good dark blue on your drinking water level, a strong purple on your highest alkaline setting for cleaning, and a good red color for your strongest acid water setting.
If you notice a drop in the ionization after using your water ionizer for a while, it is most likely because you have hard water and some mineral deposits have built up on the plates. This is easily fixed. Simply remove your number two filter and drop in a few drops of Dawn dishwashing detergent to the center tube where the filter connects to. Then reconnect the filter number two and run your water ionizer on the strongest acid water setting for a few minutes. The Dawn will clean up all of the tubes and plates inside your machine including removing those mineral deposits. Afterwards, your water ionizer will perform like new!
When you first use your water ionizer, you should drink on the 8.5 ionized water setting. This is a gentle ionized water. Ionized water is full of antioxidants and that creates a detoxification reaction in your body. Some of the symptoms of detoxification can include feeling tired, peeing a lot, and feeling achy. So drink the 8.5 ionized water for about a week. Then move up to the 9.0 ionized water and drink that for about a week. Then graduate to the 9.5 ionized water and drink that for the duration of owning your machine.
The 9.5 ionized water is nearly identical to the water that you would find coming out of the most pristine glacial streams and springs in the world. It is full of more antioxidants than a glass of blueberry juice or orange juice or even grapefruit juice. When you drink at least 8 ounces every hour, you will keep your body hydrated and detoxify and you will feel great.
