Table of Contents
ToggleIf you don’t think the high amount of antibiotics in food is a problem, then consider this: last year alone 160,000 Americans died from antibiotic-resistant diseases! The more antibiotics you take unnecessarily, the less effective they are when it really counts. That means when you get a truly serious infection or disease, you may become an ugly statistic.
Fast food restaurants and chain restaurants like Applebee’s are notorious for feeding their livestock copious amounts of antibiotics. They even give antibiotics to healthy cows just so they don’t get sick. This is more than just a preventative measure. They do this to save money on the care of these animals. The conditions that these cows and chickens live in are so unsanitary that antibiotics are needed to keep them alive!
Fast food and chain restaurants are owned by corporations that are only loyal to their shareholders. That means their focus is on turning a profit and not doing what’s right for your health. So it is imperative that you protect yourself by not eating meat from restaurants that inject the most antibiotics and put your health in the greatest jeopardy.
The FDA bans the use of antibiotics to help animals grow. But these rules have loopholes and most corporate restaurants don’t follow government rules. A company called Chain Reaction has made a list of the most popular restaurants and graded them based on their use of antibiotics.
According to Chain Reaction, Chipotle is the best at not using antibiotics in their meat. They scored an “A” on the list. Panera Bread scored an “A-“. No company scored a “B.” McDonald’s and Subway scored “C’s”.Wendy’s and Taco Bell both scored “D’s.” The rest of the restaurants including Burger King, Starbucks, Domino’s, Pizza Hut, Sonic, Applebee’s, Olive Garden, Buffalo Wild Wings, Little Caesars, Dairy Queen, Arby’s, Jack in the Box, Chili’s, IHOP, and Panda Express all earned “F’s!”
An “F” grade means that these restaurants have not followed government rules to reduce the amount of antibiotics in their beef and chicken. Therefore, in our opinion, you should avoid these restaurants at all costs! The stakes are just too high!
The truth is, you don’t need very much protein in your diet. If you keep your meat consumption around 10% to 15% of your total meal, you will be healthy. That means instead of focusing on meat each meal, a better focus would be on vegetables and whole grains.
When you do include meat, it is worth it to invest in natural, organic, and local sources that are free from antibiotics, preservatives, flavor enhancers, artificial dyes and colors, and all the other poisons injected into fast food meat.
The bottom line is most corporations do not care about the quality of the food that they serve you. They’re only looking to turn a higher profit. Avoid antibiotics in your food by avoiding these restaurants. It may save your life one day!
