Models: These are the top models on the market. EOS designs their models and manufacturers the components for those designs, making them a top-tier water ionizer company. Jupiter models are manufactured by Emcotech, also a top-tier manufacturer. Tyent products are assembled, making them lower quality, but they have the power necessary for difficult US water. Life Ionizers are manufactured by Biantech, a lower quality Korean manufacturer, but still better than assembly. Life Ionizers are also powerful.

The Enagic SD501 was left off of this chart because it is too old. It only has five settings and a very small filter. It retails for $3980 and at that price, nobody should buy it. The KYK Generation 2 was also left off this chart. We used to distribute KYK product until their primary component manufacturer, EOS, cut them off. We have since contracted with EOS because they design and manufacture their models whereas KYK is just an assembler and now the components KYK are using are lower quality. KYK should be avoided.

Flow Rate discussion:

Countertop water ionizers all have similar flow rates, it’s a bit different for undersink water ionizers. With the Odyssey and Delphi undersink water ionizers, the flow rate is low because of the limited number of plates. The machines with the higher number of plates (Revelation, Extreme Turbo) will allow a faster flow rate with powerful, consistent ionization.

Plate discussion: All water ionizer plates are platinum-titanium but only the Revelation’s plates comes from the top metal company in Japan — Hee Sung — and only the Revelation’s plates have the patented slotted plate technology, which ensures an even distribution of the electrical current over the plate’s surface, so that the entire plate is used and there are no hot spots that lead to errosion over time.

Filtration discussion: The Revelation offers a state-of-the-art four filter system whereas the rest of the machines only have three, two, and single filter systems. The Revelation will condition your source water for enhanced ionization. The Genesis models have dual filtration systems but with more stages than most our competitors, including an ion-resin exchange membrane for help in removing fluoride and heavy metals.

Slotted, Mesh, Flat Plates: Flat plates (SD501, Life) are old technology. The electrical current tends to concentrate on the edges of flat plates, causing wear and tear and the eventual destruction of the plate. Mesh attempts to fix this problem by using wires attached to the plate to distribute the electrical current evenly, however the ridges caused by these wires trap minerals and reduce the performance of the plates. The best technology is EOS’s patented slotted plate technolgy that uses small cuts in the plate to distribute the electrical current evenly. You end up with a plate that stays clean and will last a lifetime, that is why we offer a lifetime guarantee on the plates.

Price: Enagic set the bar high by selling their SD501 for $3980. Since then, water ionizer distributors have felt pressure to sell their models at high prices to show the consumer that their products are just as good as Enagic. When the consumer sees the Enagic product for nearly $4000 and another company’s product for $2000, the consumer’s mind finds ways to justify the higher price (must be a better model, better company, better water, etc.). This is NOT the case. The SD501 is expensive because of the multi-level-marketing program Enagic uses to sell it. They pay out eight levels and $2700 in commissions each time an SD501 is sold!

Considering that all US water ionizer distributors purchase their models for between $400 and $650 a piece, it is outrageous for any water ionizer to be more expensive than $2000 for countertop models and $2500 for undersink models. In our opinion, Life and Tyent are out of control selling their models for so much. They are lower quality products sold by inexperienced companies. We will continue to fight this consumer manipulation and price gouging by selling our products at reasonable prices. Our Genesis Platinum 9 Turbo Water Ionizer is higher quality and will outperform just about every other model and $2195 is the correct price for it. Our Revelation is only $2395, the least expensive premium undersink water ionizer.

Warranty Discussion: A new trend that water ionizer distributors are turning to is offering a so-called “lifetime” warranty on their machines. First off, the manufacturer of these water ionizers only offers a 1-2 year warranty, so these distribution companies are electing to cover the expenses of these lifetime warranties themselves. Very risky. Secondly, there is no guarantee several years down the road that the manufacturer will still make parts for older machines, and if they do, they may charge a premium for making those parts since they aren’t making them in bulk.

Water for Life USA has been distributing water ionizers for thirteen years. All these other companies (except Jupiter) have only been distributing for two or three years. They have no idea what its like when older machines start to break and they have to pay to repair them. This is a terrible business model that could bankrupt these companies years down the road. Some, like Chanson and Life, seem to be worried about this and put major restrictions in their warranties. Only Tyent seems to be naive enough to say that they’ll cover everything forever. Good luck with that.
