It’s a Mental Game That You Can Win!

Surviving covid-19 is much more than just washing our hands and practicing social distancing. It’s a mental and emotional game as well. Most of us are not used to being at home so much. Most of us have also been cut off from our regular social circles and our normal way of life. Here are some tips to not only stay sane but create magic in your life.

1) Declutter Your Home, Declutter Your Mind

When your life is feeling out of control, some of the best things you can do is clean an organize. Marie Kondo started a revolution with her advice on downsizing and simplifying. Now is a perfect time to practice some of her ideas. Go through each room of your house and get rid of absolutely everything you don’t need. Then organize what’s left into a space that functions and makes you happy.

It’s tough to be stuck at home. It’s even tougher to be stuck in a home that is full of stuff that saps our energy and makes us feel gloomy.

2) Learn a New Skill

I’ve always wanted to learn to play the guitar. I’ve had a guitar sitting in my closet for a couple of years now. Today I pulled the guitar out and practiced a few chords. It felt great!

Learning a new skill or developing a new hobby gives us hope. Our lives previous to covid-19 were full of outside commitment and distraction. Now that we have sometime with ourselves, you might find that you are full of untapped potential.

I’m not saying I’m going to release any classical guitar albums anytime soon, but I would like to be able to play a couple campfire songs by the end of summer.

So, take this time to reflect on yourself and find skills and interests that you haven’t unable to pay attention to until now.

3) Ground Yourself

So much of our life previous to covid-19 was un-grounded. Meaning we were hurrying here and there. We were taking our kids here and there. We were constantly moving and in a continuous state of anxiety. Now that there is some calm, take advantage of it!

Find a grounding or meditation practice. Or if you are a religious, commit more time to prayer. These exercises serve to re-focus our energy and our lives. It’s easy to get out of contact with ourselves when we are so busy. But now, we can close our eyes and go inside and take stock of what’s there.

You might find that you have been stuck on something for some time that needs to be let go of. You also may find that there is something unresolved that needs attention. Perhaps, you’ll discover there’s a family member you need to call and hash some things out with. Before, it was easy to put it off. But now, go do it! Ground yourself. Find yourself. Heal yourself. Then redirect your life.

4) Commit to Good Health

Of course, good health is super important these days. Like we said in our previous article, committing to fitness and drinking ionized water will certainly help you get healthier. Hopefully, your commitment to fitness will carry over long after the coronavirus has run its course.

The most important thing is to focus on the positive and build from there. It’s easy to get gloomy in the calm. But the calm can actually serve as bright light that illuminates our soul and our path in life.
