The most common under sink water filter system is reverse osmosis. This system involves three to five filters and a large storage tank for holding the water. All of that goes under your sink while a small spigot goes above your sink in place of your soap dispenser or sprayer.
Reverse osmosis works by using an incredible amount of pressure to push water through very small filtration membranes. The result is that your tap water gets purified from all of the contaminants. What’s left is empty water.

Even if you found a multi-stage under sink water filtration system that removes fluoride and heavy metals and all the other contaminants, it is still not treating the most important part of water.
