If you’ve been reading our blog for the past 20 years, you know that we have consistently touted the benefits of using a multistage water filtration system like our water ionizers to remove harmful chemicals from your drinking water. However, what about our food? it doesn’t do anyone any good to remove the chemicals from your drinking water and then immediately put toxic chemicals back into your body from the processed food you eat. One example is McDonald’s French fries. Honestly, we were shocked to learn how many chemicals are in McDonald’s French fries, many of them carcinogenic.
McDonald’s French fries are not made from the same potatoes that you and I buy from the grocery store. They are made from genetically modified potatoes that have been modified to prevent them from ever turning brown. This is a problem because, as many of you know, genetically modified foods are banned in Europe but not banned in the US, so food companies continue to use them despite their risk to our health.
Next, the fields where McDonald’s potatoes are grown are drenched in chlorothalonil, mancozeb, diquat, and glyphosate. These Herbicides and fungicides are carcinogenic. Honestly, any chemical made in a lab shouldn’t ever be in your food.
Once the potatoes are harvested, they are stored for months at a time. As you know, potatoes will sprout after a few days, so McDonald’s gases them with chlorpropham gas to prevent sprouting.
The cut potatoes are then drenched in dextrose and sodium acid paraphosphates, which gives them that yellow color that everyone likes, which happens to be terrible for our kidneys.
Next, the potatoes are coated with Salt and an aluminum anti-caking agent. The beef flavoring comes from hydrolyzed wheat, skim milk, citric acid, and a natural beef flavoring, which can be any juices left over from the beef slaughtering process.
To cook their French fries, McDonald’s uses a blend of cheap genetically modified seed oils and hydrogenated soybean oil, plus TBHQ, which is a petroleum-derived preservative. Yes, petroleum, as in what gas is made of, and plastic. Dimethylpolysiloxane, which is silicon that is added to stop it from bubbling as it fries.
Finally, the fries are cooked and placed into a container coated with Polyethylene, which can release microplastics.
So McDonald’s French fries are a genetically modified food that is grown with cancer-causing chemicals, flavored with chemicals that can damage our internal organs, flavored with more chemicals, and cooked in even more chemicals. This shouldn’t even be considered food. No one should ever eat it!
It’s not just McDonald’s fries you have to worry about. It’s any processed food, such as Doritos, potato chips, frozen pizza, anything on a fast food menu, anything in a wrapper, anything designed for your microwave, and just about anything in a sealed container. These foods are designed for maximum flavor and consistency, with every bite or gulp being the primary goal. Every McDonald’s fry is designed to look the same, taste the same, and give you the same blissful feeling, and that’s just not natural!
I believe people strive to drink clean water and eat well. After much research, people have realized that their tapwater and bottled water are not clean and safe to drink, so they buy our water ionizer. However, many people still don’t realize the detrimental effects of processed foods on our health. McDonald’s French fries are just the beginning. The only way to be truly healthy is to eat a plant-based, whole-foods diet that is locally grown, organic, and minimally packaged.
