Would you believe we’re going on 19 years here at Water for Life USA? I started this company back in the summer of 2006. After buying a water ionizer for personal use, I was invited to tour Korea’s different water ionizer manufacturers. By the end of the trip, I picked the best manufacturer and placed my first order for 50 units; the rest is history!
Back in 2006, I had just graduated with a master’s in psychology from the University of San Francisco. My background wasn’t business, but I was compelled by research about the importance of an antioxidant-rich drinking water diet to overall health. I decided that the best way that I could help people was to educate them about drinking water and detoxifying their bodies. I devoted myself full-time to Water for Life USA.
Over the past nineteen years, I have seen water ionizers go from relative obscurity where only extreme health fanatics seem to know about them. Then, around 2008, they became trendy, and suddenly, every water ionizer worldwide was sold in the US. Our market changed from a couple of high-quality brands to a flood of cheaply made models. These cheap models, some counterfeits of our models, damaged the US market and consumers’ trust in water ionizer companies. We saw sales go from $3 million one year to less than half a million the next year due to all the negative press and backlash from the water industry.
Then the economy crashed! At the time, we had two brick-and-mortar locations: one in Maryland and the other in Washington. Unfortunately, we had to close both those locations and end our celebrity endorsement contract to survive. We refocused our efforts on the online market.
Those were difficult months and years as we rebuilt, but we always cared for our customers. We maintained an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. We stayed true to who we were.
The economic crash sent most of our competitors into bankruptcy, but we continued to build. We now have a core of dedicated dealers and affiliates across the US that educate their customers and friends about our products, creating a steady stream of new customers. This core of support even propelled us through COVID-19.
Our steady progress is evident by the fact that we just launched the HydroHeat Water Ionizer, the first water ionizer that can create hot ionized water. It is an incredible innovation that fills a market demand that has existed since the beginning. How do you make hot ionized water? Before, the best way was to boil it. But now, all you have to do is touch a button!
Going forward, Water for Life USA will continue to expand our dealer and affiliate base, expand marketing programs, and continue to build. I am also halfway through writing a book on alkaline ionized water detailing my experience of over almost two decades in the industry. I’ve heard many miraculous stories I want to share with the world! You can expect that book to be launched sometime next spring.
