We sell two different models of undersink water ionizers here at Water for Life USA. Naturally, customers want to know the difference between the two. So here is a handy-dandy guide to help you decide which undersink water ionizer works best for you and your family: the Rio or the IonPlus.
Let’s start with the Rio undersink water ionizer. The Rio is made by EOS Hi-Tech which is the same company that made the Revelation 2. In fact, the Rio is the successor to the Revelation 2. It uses the same sized base but everything else has been improved. The Rio is a nine-plate water ionizer with two filters and a total of sixteen stages of filtration. The Rio filters have been improved to remove a higher amount of heavy metals, fluoride, and other impurities from your water. The Rio also sports a brand-new faucet that is sleek and modern in its design.
The IonPlus undersink water ionizer is a 7-plate water ionizer made by IonTech. It uses a single filter that boasts 11 stages of filtration. Its faucet is similar in size to the Rio faucet.
The big difference between the Rio and the IonPlus is the base size. The base of the Rio is 13.5 inches wide, 2.5 inches wider than the IonPlus which is 11 inches.
The Rio also uses two filters instead of the one filter that is used in the IonPlus. It costs $119 for a set of Rio filters and $85 for the IonPlus filter and they last about the same amount of time, 9 months to a year with average water use. So, potentially, you will save some money on filter costs with the IonPlus.
The third difference between the Rio and IonPlus is that you’ll get about 20% stronger ionization with the Rio. That’s because it has those two extra plates. This will improve the strength of the super alkaline water that you can make. It’ll also make stronger super-acidic water compared to the IonPlus. Super-alkaline water is used mostly for cooking and super-acidic water is used for disinfection. However, both machines will produce the same strength of drinking water at a 9.5 pH and 1500 parts per billion of dissolved hydrogen in each glass. That means that the health benefits of drinking ionized alkaline water are the same between the Rio and IonPlus.
Both the Rio and the IonPlus have about the same size faucet. But, because the Rio is a newer water ionizer, the Rio faucet has a more modern look to it. However, some customers actually prefer the look of the IonPlus faucet, so be sure to compare the pictures carefully to pick the best look for your kitchen.
The level of filtration is also similar between the Rio and the IonPlus. The Rio has slightly better filtration but the IonPlus filter has an incredible 11 stages built into it and cleans up over 99% of contaminants from your drinking water.
Finally, the Rio is more expensive at $2495 versus $2395 for the IonPlus. The price difference is because the Rio has two extra plates.
There isn’t a wrong choice when it comes to the decision between the Rio and the IonPlus. Both are premium undersink water ionizers that will filter your water to over 99% purity and create many levels of pH to choose from. Both will create antioxidant drinking water to make you and your family healthier. If you think that you will be using your water ionizer for cleaning and cooking purposes, the Rio might be a better choice because it has stronger alkaline and acid capabilities. The IonPlus might be a better fit for you if cabinet space is an issue. The rest comes down to personal preference.
