ToggleA few decades ago, the American consumer didn’t think too much about their water. Almost every household was comfortable drinking and using tap water. You probably remember drinking from the hose as a kid without any concerns.
However, there has been a massive shift in public opinion brought on by natural and man-made water disasters, Erin Brockovich and her fight against chromium-6, investigative journalism about the damaging effects of fluoride, hurricanes that blasted through water treatment facilities, people getting sick from poorly managed factory and agricultural chemicals, and so much more.
The bottom line is we have become increasingly wary of our tap water, leaving us vulnerable to bad solutions.
In 1959, two UCLA students created the first cellulose acetate membrane, which is used in reverse osmosis. The purified water that this membrane created was used in labs to clean lab equipment, but then, in 1965, Culligan and Nimbus sold reverse osmosis systems and water to the general public with steady but limited success.
It wasn’t until the 1990’s and the aforementioned events that purified water demand really took off. Now, there is a pure water boom with purified bottled water selling 53 billion last year while in-home water purifiers sold an additional 7.3 billion!
The thinking behind pure water is simple: contaminants are bad, so remove them all! So why is pure water a scam? It’s because purified is just a fancy name for empty. It is basically taking something and stripping everything from it. Water isn’t supposed to be pure. Water is supposed to have minerals, oxygen and antioxidants in it. All are essential to restoring our bodies and keeping us healthy.
When a pure water company shows you a waterfall or a pristine spring or stream, they are not showing you pure water. These natural water sources are full of minerals and antioxidants from the sun and kinetic energy. In other words, natural water is full of what we need to be healthy and to thrive. Purified water is not. It’s empty, stagnant, and dead!
When a person drinks purified water, they are drinking empty, acidic water that will strip away properties of what it comes in contact with, which is why acidic water rusts metal. If acidic water can break down metal, imagine what it can do to your body!
Over time, drinking purified water will put a strain on the systems your body uses to control its pH, leading to problems such as poor sleep, poor metabolism, weakened bones, aches and pain, and even high blood pressure.
Too much strain on our bodies creates an environment for adult-onset diseases to develop, like cancer, osteoporosis, arthritis, or worse.
We believe that bottled water companies like Coca-Cola, which sells Dasani, and Pepsi, which sells Aquafina, along with all the knock-off brands, reverse osmosis system companies, distiller companies, and every other company in the pure water business KNOW that purified water isn’t good for you. But that doesn’t stop them from using the aforementioned waterfalls and pristine springs in their ads. They also use celebrities and athletes to manipulate you into believing that this is a healthy hydration option.
What’s worse is that they also make contracts with schools, commercial events like concerts and sporting events, offices, stores, and anywhere else they can to make their purified water the ONLY option for you to drink.
So, if you’re at a concert and you’re thirsty, you are stuck buying a $5 bottle of purified water.. At work? The vending machine only sells Dasani. Watching a pro-sports team play? Sorry, it’s either dirty tap water or Aquafina.
In our opinion, this is evil, and these companies should be held responsible for the damage they are inflicting on Americans through their deceitful and aggressive marketing.
